In the UK, 500,000 people are estimated to be living with undiagnosed coeliac disease. That’s far too many people suffering from a range of confusing and diverse symptoms like stomach pain, anaemia, diarrhoea and other gut problems, nausea and vomiting, extreme tiredness, and more. And the toll of undiagnosed coeliac disease is more than just physical: it can really affect your mental health.
So, for the entire month of May, Coeliac UK is on a mission to find the 1 in 100 people in the UK with coeliac disease and help guide them on the road to recovery. To do that, we’ll be shining the spotlight on what it’s really like living with undiagnosed coeliac disease. By focusing on real stories, we’re hoping to empower people experiencing the same thing to ask ‘is it coeliac disease?’ and take our online self-assessment.
