Private healthcare providers are trying to wash their hands of responsibility if something goes wrong with a patient's treatment. Help us to hold them to account, join our Patients Before Profits campaign.
Thompsons Solicitors' Patients Before Profits campaign wants to close a legal loophole that allows private healthcare providers to escape liability if doctors working at their hospitals harm patients.
Private healthcare providers must not:
1. Profit from mistakes. No healthcare provider should make money from a failure to properly treat a patient;
2. Have different safety rules from the NHS. All healthcare providers must have the same obligations of transparency, safety and accountability as the NHS; or
3. Benefit from legal get outs not available to the NHS. All patients, wherever they are treated, should, if things go wrong, be able to access the same remedies and opportunity for legal redress.
