Students Not Suspects

Organising opposition to the Prevent duty in colleges and universities in the UK. As part of the Government's 'counter terrorism' strategy, Prevent requires teachers, academics and counsellors to monitor students. This is having a profound impact on students' welfare as surveillance and suspicion creates anxiety and discourages critical thought. Many instances of Prevent being applied have led to racial profiling - predominantly targeting Muslim students. Students, academics and community campaigners are coming together to oppose Prevent. By organising together on our campuses, building networks and refusing compliance - we can force an overhaul of this policy. Join us.
