The Myelin Repair Foundation (MRF) is a non-profit research foundation focused on rapidly developing effective myelin repair treatments for multiple sclerosis patients in need.

Myelin is the fatty protective coating surrounding nerve fibers of the central nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord. The myelin layer, or myelin sheath, acts as an electrical insulator for the neuron, allowing impulses to travel quickly along nerve cells. In diseases like multiple sclerosis, the body’s immune system will attack and damage its own healthy myelin, impairing the normally functional transmission of nerve impulses throughout the body.
