Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is hugely mis and under-diagnosed globally, with many patients fighting for years for a diagnosis and recognition. This fight can be a difficult road; patients report not being believed and struggling to convince the medical professionals they see, to understand the complexity of what they are experiencing. As a result, many are not diagnosed until much later in life when damage to joints can be irreversible. due to deconditioning and lack of management. We need to change this. The Ehlers-Danlos Society is striving toward a time when all those with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome have their right for an early diagnosis, good management, respect and recognition for their condition. May is Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Awareness Month and we'd like the community to help us by changing their profile picture to the zebra! The #ItsOurTime campaign intends to shine a light on the importance of awareness and early diagnosis, and show the community the importance of working together. Strength begins with hope.
