Cystic Fibrosis Awareness

Bringing awareness about Cystic Fibrosis one profile picture at a time. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects the salt transference through cell walls. This causes mucous to become very thick and sticky. It also affects the ability of the pancreas to produce enough enzymes to digest fats. This thick mucous leads to many lung infections, which ultimately cause irreparable damage to the lungs. The mucous also coats the lining of the intestines, which coupled with low pancreatic functions, keeps people with CF from absorbing enough nutrients. This often leads to the person being underweight and malnourished. Since Cystic Fibrosis affects so few people (roughly 30k people in the US), there is not much funding available for research. It is only through awareness campaigns and fundraising that advances have been made in the treatment of CF. Without research there will be no cure. Help us raise awareness!!
